The Bicycle Story

At Spring Trading, Kg. Air was where I bought my second set of wheels.  Not another car, but a bicycle.  Who'd've thunk?

Now I'm not the best of cyclist..yet (yet.. mayhaps I'd grow to be a more competent cyclist).  I am not too confident of my motor balance.  I don't have any problem getting on one and pedalling off.. however, i have this fear that  I would embarrass myself in falling off a bike while applying the brakes to slow down or to stop.  Not enough hours put in the cycling process maybe..no practice..therefore no perfecto..

So far I have joined my friend Freddie on two road cycling outings. I decided to venture out on my own and cycled in the vicinity of my neighborhood.

With XDS aluminium frame, Fork : Rock shox, Cassete : Shimano Deure, 10-speed. I'll try not to let this baby sit like a furniture in my house.

Going the distance

Welly welly welly...
Tis 2009...
Had staff meet today...
3 major posts for me...
PIBG treasurer, Penyelaras Ting 4 n Penyelaras Unit Uniform...
Sigh...

On top of that..
I'm assigned a class of Lower 6...
Now this one's going to be interesting...

Aside from that..
Bought myself a new pair of running shoes on the last day of 2008..

I used to run when I was studying back in U. And my first pair of running shoes was of the Mizuno brand. They were good running shoes. And they were blue and white combi color. After a few years, when the sides and soles gave up, I had them stiched but having them stiched made the size shrink. So, running wasn't as comfortable... and made me leave running...(not exactly the true reason la..heheh)

My second running shoes were a pair of Nike. Red and white. I thought... now this would jumpstart my running passion. Uh...negative.... They looked good on my kaki though. A few weeks ago, while doing some light jogging while doing the morning exercise at Kem, I felt this flapping sensation while jogging. I looked down, lo and behold...aiya... the soles of the shoes had started to open up a little. A few days ago, I sent them for stiching... and so the story goes..di da di..didadidadidadi...

My newest running shoes... Adidas.. Dark grey and yellow... I had made a check on the Adidas stores around town and a few pairs had jumped out of their way to wave to me to say..Buy me!! I really loved this white and yellow combi... Unfortunately they didn't have my size! A red pair of Adidas said coyly..."U can buy me...".. Had to turn him down so.. Way out of my budget... So, I settled on this smiling pair of GreyYellow... Babe, I'm taking you home...

So, going the distance for work..
And going the distance for my running...
Wish me luck!

Balik sekolah...

My cousin Faith will go back to school next year as a first former at SMK Limbanak. Aunti Phyllis called me last month asking me to sew a couple of pinafores for Faith. I said, "Ok". Maka-maka... lum pernah jait pinafore pun. hahahah

But i figured it woudn't be so hard to sew. The basic is just the skirt maa..
I took Faith's measurement. She, being the tomboy that she is, said," jangan kasi kembang tu skirt aa?" She didn't want to look too girlish maybe. Her mum said, " Jangan talampau ikut apa dia mau tu, Alie.. Kasi buat A-shape ja." "Ok..".

I bought 4 meters of the 60inch wide blue cotton cloth from Starlight in Segama. On sale waktu tu. I thought that would be enough but I suddenly felt like sewing Ninak another baju so after feeling and checking some fabric ( I remember Ninak saying she liked the last baju I made for her, sajuk, licak (hahaha) and had a nice motif).. I bought 1 1/2 meters for her.

So... just yesterday I started cutting the cloth for the pinafores and this morning, Ninak's baju. I sent the kain for edging this morning. Sesampai ja rumah, after lunch, I started sewing the pinafore.

Huih... finished the pinafore after 2 hours plus of sewing. Tu pun... banyak rehat. Sigup habis.. so minum green tea banyak-banyak. (I already bought a pack of Green Tea, Mona).

Faith with new uniform

I might not finish all tonight.. logot-logot lah.

Api! Api!Api!

I just came back from a 3 days 2 nights course on Safety and Fire Drill at camp. I know I should say something like I have gained a lot from this course, which I did most definitely, but I know I enjoyed the processess of the gaining of knowledge from this 3D2N course. Kumpulan 4 rocks!!!
I didn't manage to get pics on the first day of training which was held at the Tuaran Balai Bomba. We had our session of Kawat Basah there. We learned how to carry, unroll and roll the hose. We also learned the teamwork of attaching one hose to another, attaching the hose to the nozzle and then shooting water towards the target. Mona and I had fun carrying the hose, doing the whole work and shooting the water and later at each other. Kan Mona kan? Ahaha..

The pics below are activities yesterday. We were given the chance of going inside the B.A.Gallery room. It's where firefighters practice crawling through a maze of man-made twists and turns of possible building fire situations. The pros have to do it in full gear; bawa B.A., in full suit, carrying fire-fighting equipments- and in darkness. We sasing-sasing did it pakai helmet and sarung tangan only, first in partial darkness and then in darkness. Huh! At the second try, I thought it was so dark inside. Darker than night. Waktu merayap dalam kegelapan, rasa gumbira amat sangat when ada kawan yang already reach the end and opened the door because for a few seconds of so, light came in from the outside and in that space of a few seconds, buli nampak jalan!

Taklimat and warm up before activity
Start from the second floor --
end up at the ground floor

Bunsit, Bandukan, Keningau

A day spent doing something different and helpful is a good day indeed.
The Keningau Scouts organised the Perkhemahan Ikhtiar Hidup dan Orienteering just Sunday and yesterday. A trio of us from Kem handled the O'ring part. Tn H did the talking while me and Mona did the legwork. No problem for us as I am still a novice in the O'ring presentation part. Morning was spent marking the surrounding areas of Taman Rekreasi Bunsit with o'ring markers while Tn H gave the intro, basic compass reading, bearings and such to the 51 students of surrounding high schools. Around noon, the o'ring 'competition' started. The area covered wasn't that big. It took us earlier around 45 mins to cover the whole area. It took the scouts 1 hr plus to finish. The last finishers nearly 2 hrs. We waited and waited for the last two participants who didn't turn up. Later we found out that they lost the control cards and thought that that didn't matter and never bothered to inform us and when they arrived, they just went to the riverside to bathe and have lunch. Grr.... made us worry for nothing...
One thing that stood out, really stood out
in Bunsit, especially at the taman bandukan..
were the amount of shit... ehem...
the cattle turds...
the piggy turds...
that decorated the paths.
The asphalt, the pathways, the padangs..
aiya... i even accidentally stepped on a fresh pat of green cake...
Anyway..
A 'pentauliahan' was done during the closing ceremony which
was held at around 4pm on Monday. I've never been witness to
such Scout ceremony. Interesting protocols. Appointments the new Keningau
King Scouts Caretaker was done. The former Caretaker was naik-pangkat-ed
as the Caretaker for the Kelana one. What's that in Scouts term in English, I don't know.
It's for those Scouts who have left high-school.
There was a Senior Scouts there who had been constantly
snapping away pictures with a canggih camera.
Later on, we found out that he's a Borneo Post
part time journalis. Someone said, tunggulah 2-3 hari,
the gambar of this camp will be out.

The day before the event, canoes lining up the beach..

Rafting at Kiulu part II

I asked my sis, Sandra if she was interested in going rafting in Kiulu. As expected she said...ooo....interested...

So, off we went. Glad she enjoyed herself.

My sis, smiling away while paddling. Our raft guide was Yadi@ si kurus..hehe..

Rafting at Kiulu

Went rafting at Kiulu last week with Mona and her sis Celestyne. Water level was low but me being the waterbug, the rafting was just as fun. Here's a pic of me which Mona caught.

I was in the same raft with a family of Koreans. Johny was the raft guide for the day. Picture taken by Riverbug photographer.

Tn H called last night. Was actually groggy from sleep. He delivered the happy news. A while later, EDY delivered the same jubilant news.
Yay! finally passed my 3rd RAE. Now if i can only think of a nice callsign..

Kiulu oh kiulu...

It happens once in ten years, so the villagers say. Strong winds and heavy rain will come. So heavy that the river will burst its banks and overun everything in its path.

This happened just a few days ago in Kiulu. A friend and I went over to see Kiulu after the great flood. These are just some of the pictures of the aftermath.

The new store... if teda kena kunci, hanyut juga itu kayak sekalian...

Inside the former surau - sleeping area. The red arrow shows the water level.Even the tempat sinki pun hanyut. So strong the air sungai!!
